May Blitz Arena

The 'Vote Chess' match against the SWCC is on hold for now. Therefore, we will hold another Blitz Arena event this Wednesday. As a reminder, an Arena event is a set duration and you get to play as many games as you can in the allotted time period. In our case this will be two hours. There will be two sections. Please comment here (or on chess.com in the club's Forum topic) and let us know your preferred time control. Next week we will begin a 4-round Swiss-system event at the classical TC of G/100;+5.

Blitz Swiss

This was scheduled to be an 8 round Blitz tournament in two sections. I think each section played fewer rounds because the chess.com site decided less rounds were needed to determine a winner. We may need a greater number of players in a section to hold an 8-round tournament.

Time Control Notes
The time control was G4;+3 (4 minutes initial time with a 3 second increment). With this time control if a game lasts 30 moves each player will have 5.5 minutes. If the game lasts 60 moves, then each side will have 7 minutes. The only time a player would have less than 5 minutes is if the game lasts less than 20 moves.

Open: 1st mikewier, 2nd zugzwang_mke, 3rd arivedal
Reserve: 1st vinayakchess2043, 2nd jnickell, 3rd 442oons_messi

WCC Holding Online Events

Given the current situation with Covid-19 and "Safer at Home" guidelines, the Waukesha Chess Club will be holding events on Chess.com. Intially, we will hold tournaments/events with quicker time controls in order to keep each event to a single night. Once we have all had a bit more experience with how this will work, we will hold tournaments with slower, "classical" time controls.

Come join the club on Chess.com!

If you aren't a Chess.com member yet, they offer free/basic memberships (as well as other premium memberships).  To sign up for a basic (free) membership register for an account.

See you online!
